Is technical knowledge necessary?

No, it is not necessary. You can have a functioning key housing again without technical knowledge.

What do you need to do?

Step 1. Open your existing key, remove the electronics and immobilizer and place them in the new key housing.
Step 2. Carefully close the housing.
Step 3. That's all, you now have a properly working key housing again.
